2. haredi leaders simply wrong
to set aside time for torah scholars to do self defense in the idf is proper. otherwise haredi always need extra protection walking the streets. israelis and jews worldwide cannot afford this. all jews need to be like israel where possible-able to defend itself. bulllies look for the weak.
it is not enough for haredi to stiudy torah. they have to build up the physical side of themselves.
