I usually agree with Ron analysis but I find that the premises of the analysis to be so Israel centric that it misses the point to some extent according to me. Israel cannot wake up every five minute and declar xyz is an existential threat. Assad is an existential threat to its own people but It is not an existential threat to Israel otherwise the idf would have acted long ago. The West - Israel, USA, France, and the UK, made a strategic mistake of allowing the Russians entering Syria - with little or no resistance, and letting the Russians stay in Syria -with little or no resistance. The West should contain Russia and limit its presence in the world just like the West did during the Cold War.
