Do the people of Gaza ever wonder, "who put up that new building?" or "When did so-and-so get a new car?" or "Look at all the people in the mall!"
Yes, dear citizens of Gaza, some of your friends, neighbors, and relatives are making a living, going to school, and making a better life for themselves. They are not wasting their days throwing rocks over the border fence or sending kites over to Israel to burn some crops. They have no desire to become a martyr for the likes of Haniyeh and Mashaal, and all the other 'leaders' who have robbed the people of a good and prosperous future.
No doubt some of the less-than-brilliant Gazans will get themselves killed or injured trying to break through an international border, and that's their choice, but they should know that their sacrifice was for nothing.
The people of Gaza should demand that Haniyeh and Mashaal, alone, try to break through the border fence. Let them approach the fence with bolt cutters.
They won't. They won't throw their lives away for a photo op. But they will let others throw their lives away for it. That should tell the people of Gaza all they need to know about their 'leaders.'
And for the mothers and fathers that gloat about their kids being injured or killed trying to attack the border fence, you should know that in the rest of the world, the entire planet, you would be charged with child abuse and put in prison. To paraphrase what Hillary once said, "It takes a home and a village to raise a sociopath."
