"the system could track any aerial target at a range of up to 50 kilometers."
Excellent job by Mossad, Military Intelligence, IAI, IAF, etc. That said, the range of 50 km doesn't render this system capable of reaching Israeli airspace from the T-4 base. Located 60 km east of Homs, the system can't even reach Lebanese airspace, nor reach anywhere near the Golan Heights. The only place this system could be effective, is to defend the T-4 base itself.
The article states that versions with 100 and 200 km range are being developed by Iran. Now that's scary, and that's different. And one last question: If the system copies a-la-Chinese the Russian S-300, and if it works, then the Syrian Air Force already has it, or had it, until Thursday morning.
Qassem Solimani will dedicate the rest of his life to revenge for his frustration and humilliation. I'm sure the Mossad understands it. Shavua Tov.
