As shown by the death of the other soldier, rocks thrown at you can kill you. Return fire is appropriate. Maybe next time the Arabs will leave the rocks on the ground, but I doubt it.

Now the mother and family will proudly have a mourning tent and have their 15 minutes of fame, which seems to be what these morons want. Personally, I'd rather have my child alive. But Arabs have been brainwashed to think differently.

This soldier was under attack and fired in self defense of the unit. If I were his commanding officer, I'd tell him, "Well done, soldier."
