When Israel sent humanitarian to Gaza to better their lives, what do they do? They used the cash & supplies to do what they have always done..... buy rockets to shoot at Israel while making life just as miserable. Part of the reason of military service is to make the servicemen to be better people to serve for the future of Israel's security that haredis have always taken for granted. Serve for a better life, that is what military service is besides serving Israel.

Whereas those who are not critically positioned in yeshivas are required to be drafted.
