Herzog is an honorable Israeli patriot, but not an inspired choice. This nomination was a bit unfortunate, I think, and he's already showing the reasons why. The rift with the US Diaspora is not due to Israeli policy, it is due to an identity crisis among US Jews.

I am not the sharpest tool in the shed so maybe someone could help me understand? In the last 100 years where did most of the Jews, who are living in Israel today, come from and where did all the money and military aid come from to help Israel be what it is today? Also, is it not the Jews living in the diaspora who fight for Israel in their own country each day? We too pay a high price for Israel existence and do it gladly!
