Making Haredim serve their country is not sanctioning students. Praying didn't do well for Jews in Europe during WWII and will not help Israel now. They want to be saved by the blood of other Jews. They truly are despicable people.

Deuteronomy 33. Moses blesses Zevulun. He never addresses Yissachar directly. Never gives him his own. blessing. The full time learners (Yissachar) think that they are the reason the rest of us exist. According to Moses, it was for the righteousness of Zevulun that the world exists. Yissachar of our day is just sitting in the tent on his ass except when he comes out to demonstrate and make a lot of noise. Contemptible. Further, Zevulun also learns Torah. Learning does not preclude a positive contribution in every sphere. If they don't serve the country their civil rights should be revoked. Make this new law such that non-serving Haredim will be declared criminals and given jail sentences.

Why should Torah students be different from other students in Israel?
Torah students receive stipends from Medinat Israel, they receive benefits that other students don't. They live in Israel and don't recognize Israel's democratic system, but have no problem in getting money from it. Most of them don't even accept the State of Israel. Haredim became a Government within Israel's government.
To serve in our IDF is a MITZVAH for all Israelis. It is the only way to protect our Nation from external aggression (and internal too). As of now, it is the only way to keep ourselves (and Haredim too) alive.
Until Haredim demonstrate that only with their prayers they can make our enemies disappear, they will have to help keeping themselves safe and the rest of the Israelis too, even if it might be difficult for them to understand it.

When will people understand that the more religion is infused in people's lives by the government, the worse off that country will be. We've seen it time and again, and Judaism (as great as it is!) is no exception. We've become a country obsessed with trashing those lefty liberals, when in fact they have so little power. We are turning a blind eye to the real problems at hand.

There's more to living in this very difficult country than sponging off it - giving false yeshiva numbers and other jollies which the haradim are oh so good at. Time to give back! There are haradi units in the IDF which cater for the religious soldiers - so there's absolutely NO reason they cannot serve. They need to put up and shut up and not just constantly demand from the country - doesn't work like that. Morons!!!!!
