Every nation has a state language, it also defines a state. Israel is a Jewish state and Hebrew is the national language. All other groups still keep and speak their language. No one is denying them. It seems to me that the right wing parties formalized this into law because Abbas doesn't recognize Israel as a Jewish state, but with this law in place if he recognizes Israel he de-facto recognizes it as a Jewish state without stating so publicly. This law came obviously more out of fear and frustration. We must remember that due to the Palestinian verbal war and in against Israel there will be consequences and responses of which we disagree.
