1. Gaza/Hamas
joseph ,   Montreal   (07.27.18)
Mr Eiland, I agree with you that we should talk to Hamas. but there is one problem .Hamas does not want to talk to Israel ...Do you have a suggestion beside opening the borders and letting Hamas importing arms?
2. Can Israel Negotiate with Hamas?
Ed ,   USA   (07.27.18)
The author assumes that Hamas is willing to negotiate with Israel in order to improve conditions in Gaza. Not clear to me that Hamas is concerned with the daily life of Palestinians. On the contrary, easier to whip them into frenzied action against Israel if conditions remain miserable. Hopefully the people of Gaza will come to see that Hamas is the source of their misery and demand a new government. Be patient.
3. Wachtvogel and Kitov are
Stan ,   Israel   (07.27.18)
ultra religious extremists whom I believe will not be satisfied with less than rebuilding the temple.

Giora Eiland served as a national security adviser for many years to the satisfaction of Netanyahu. His political views may not be extreme right-wing, but they are far from being left-wing.
As I said before the only political opinions which are acceptable to most of the readers of Ynet, are even too extreme for our Prime Minister.
4. Jews violate 1974 agreement, but expect Syria to keep them
Steve Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN   (07.27.18)
5. The South is Sephardim in developmental towns+ no clout
Sam ,   Montreal   (07.27.18)
They should boot out the Israeli leadership in the next elections.
6. Right and wrong
Don Saliman ,   nahal oz   (07.27.18)
You are right on the Northern border but wrong on the southern border
7. Israel trades food, electricity etc for "Palestinian" terror
Chaim ,   Israel   (07.27.18)
It is just mind blowing that every single Israeli MK and leader doesn't understand the obvious insanity of Israel supplying food, medicine, electricity, protection etc. to "Palestinians", while "Palestinians" supply terror, rockets, arson, boycotts etc. to Israel. When will Israelis DEMAND sane leadership?
8. Wrong about Gaza
A Simple Jew ,   Beer Sheva   (07.27.18)
Eiland is dead wrong--
1. A deal with Gaza won't prevent a two-front war. Hamas will attack Israel the minute its Iranian masters give the order.

2. Building up Gaza while Hamas is in power simply permits Hamas to use its own resources, and the ones that it can steal from foreign aid, to obtain ever deadlier weapons to use against Israel in the next war.

3. There is no reason to negotiate from a position of abject weakness. Eiland acts like Israel just lost the war and must sue for peace on the most humiliating terms possible. Israel can destroy Gaza and inflict massive damage on Hamas. Israel's morale and dignity are strategic assets which Eiland would surrender for nothing. If Israel's enemies believe its leaders are cowards, and building up Gaza with Hamas in power screams cowardice, (and stupidity) then these enemies will fall on Israel like wolves.

9. Général let’s cut the talking point in two. Israel is right
Tehraniporou   (07.27.18)
To defend itself as a sovereign democratic states. For all sake let’s cut the value statement. Values and à counties rational cold interests are different things. Itsnotmeyahuuuuu wants to keep his post not matter what, that’s the policy. On the north you are trying and succeeding in defeating the irgc but it is a long battle. It is not Israel’s military might which will prevent the irgc from staying in Syria it will be iran’s domestic problems and population. The rest is like a fundraiser dinner where people fill up their ego by talking about issues that they can’t control nor shape
