For years the so-called "ISIS-linked" anti-Assad Sunni factions have been holed up in the SW Syria Yarmouk triangle - without major incident relative to Israel.

So why are they now suddenly "attacking" Israel?

Perhaps because they're not... Stronger possibility is that they were fleeing Assad forces advancing in the area.

Were they "bearing gifts to the Israeli people"? of course not.

Most likely however is that they were carrying their side-arms and were unable to coordinate a surrender to local IDF forces.
