1. Draining swamps and marshes

was the chief project for the Zionist resettlement. We made the same mistake in Europe. We all have to think about ways, how to increase the absorption potential of the nature. Planting trees is one way. Establishing small ponds and making the rivers to zig-zag more on their way to the sea can be another. Additional measures include varnishing points, continuation of the conservation programs and multiple water recyclation. It is a long way to go, but Israelis have managed to show the path in the past. There is a lot of innovation potential.
2. Water scarcity in Israel

Charles,

If we consider an average band shore 3 km wide on 200km long and assuming that only 50% of the 600mm annual rain fall could be recovered, the rest being lost or/and used to regenerate underground water , we could recover 200 million cubes. However I am not sure that the engineering costs to elaborate such a system would be worthwhile at this stage. Better to ask people to shower for very short periods. -or to pay extra taxes. We certainly know how to do this here.
3. No surprise to me!

As long as Israel continues to burn fossil fuels into the atmosphere, the drought will get worse. Abrupt climate change is happening now! Unfortunately, Israelis have no concern for the natural environment, yet they are fighting over the land? Unbelievable! Israel has a Bio-capacity deficit of 1,640% according to the Global Footprint Network. Canada has Bio-capacity reserves of 89%. That‘s not much on the plus side, but way better than Israel! Jews in Israel will have to start being caretakers of G-d‘s creation instead of destroyers. With ever increasing hot temperatures, no food, no water and no clean air to breathe, Israel will be finished by 2050.
4. Israel needs more RO desalination capacity

And deploy or pilot new technologies and membranes that improve efficiency and drive down costs and utilise solar energy to operate

The march of global warming and global water deficits will continue relentlessly well into the future. Thanks to the foresight and brilliance of the founding fathers of Israels Desalination Programme Israel has not succumbed to drought. But demand growth and natural supply has changed. Israel must react accordingly
