1. just saying
Charles Duran ,   L.A.   (08.11.18)
An insightful artical with a fresh new and plausable analysis. Turns the conventional perspective of the conflict on it's head. Great piece of thoughtful writing. Thanks
2. Are there such leaders in Israel ?
DSM ,   USA   (08.11.18)
The citizens of Israel should be crying out for new elections that would enable them to vote for new leadership that puts Israel and them first, before anything or anyone.
3. Useful Kleinberg doing Hamas- promotion in Hebrew/English!
(08.11.18)
4. GAME THEORY ALIKE ANALYSIS IS NOT ENOUGH FOR GAZA ISSUE
DANNS/SHSCLBRTR ,   MONTEVIDEO   (08.11.18)

5. Favela, not "Pavela".
Roberto ,   Santiago, Chile.   (08.11.18)
Otherwise the comparison is somewhat crude. People leave the Favela whenever they please, work elsewhere, and don't shoot Iranian rockets on Río, don't send suicide-bombers to kill innocent people outside the Favela, nor deny the existance of Brazil, nor call Brazilians "the occupation", don't burn Brazil... I see the point Aviad is trying to make. It's a bit forced though.
6. No, Gaza is not Israel's Favela.
Roberto ,   Santiago, Chile.   (08.11.18)
Its inhabitants are not impoverished Israelis, who thus happen to create a citadel with parallel values under warlords, drug-dealers, pimps and ordinary bullies, with some systems of mutual help. Egypt borders with Gaza too, and Egypt's treatment of Gaza is harsher to some extent, even though Hamas recognizes Israel. Qatar, Turkey, Kuwait don't build Dubai out of Gaza through Egypt. They know full well Palestinians are the most savage lumpen of the entire dysfunctional neighborhood.
7. Blame the Jews article why no mention of Egyptian border?
(08.11.18)
8. Blame the Jews being massacred by Muslims for centuries liar
(08.11.18)
9. Aviad Kleinberg's flawed 'argument'
bob kirk ,   Santa Barbara CA   (08.11.18)
Mr. Kleinberg's 'argument' that 'Israel prefers the status quo' in Gaza and 'two weak Palestinian governments' ignores the fact that Israel transferred the Gaza strip to the Palestinian Authority run by Abbas in 2005. The PA was violently driven out of Gaza by hamas in 2007. Abbas was elected in 2005 for a 5 year term which he ignored and rules without new elections. No doubt he fears that hamas would win., Israel seems to agree, so 'nobody 'demands' elections. The allegedly 'weak' hamas can send tens of thousands of Israelis into shelters as hundreds of rockets rain down on Israel! Israel allows food into Gaza and keeps Gazans alive and well despite hamas send hundreds of burning kites into Israel to destroy crops, wildlife and woodland.\Mr. Kleinberg needs to look at All the facts and discard his propaganda.

10. Accurate Description
Mark ben Josef ,   USA   (08.11.18)
Israel's government wants control, not peace. Conflict and fear secure the power of the current Israeli government.
11. GREAT article!
Brian ,   melbourne   (08.11.18)
GREAT article. Well thought. I commend the way the author put the words together.
12. YNET hates Bibi so much they've thrown in with Hamas
Empress Trudy ,   raleigh   (08.11.18)
Well at least they're not hiding it anymore.
13. black is white and white is black!
shloime ,   toronto   (08.11.18)
he goes around in circles trying to prove that netanyahu, and not hamas, is to blame for everything. a perfect example of the left’s intellectual bankruptcy.
14. What a bunch of malarkey and I’ll tell you why
Arnie ,   Montreal   (08.11.18)
If the sides were reversed and it was the Jews that had gotten Gaza back in 2005 the Jews would have made Gaza into a seaside paradise resort. They would have taken what was given them and run with it. Jews have done that exact thing throughout history. No matter which country, which city they built their lives and lived as best they could in any circumstances.
15. Hamas made their bed
Larry Rivetz ,   Northridge Ca   (08.11.18)
Israel left Gaza with the idea that it would be part of a United Palestine. There was no blockade until Hamas took it over and declared enmity forever towards Israel. Hamas made their own bed.
16. Totally Nuts
Ron ,   LA   (08.11.18)
The author forgot one thing. The Jews left Gaza years ago. Forgot so many transgressions of the Arabs to answere here. Printing this article which is lies upon lies. Ignores history and could play well in Gaza City to Al Jazerra.
17. time to eliminate (kill) 2nd level hams
obseverms ,   Tivon, Israel   (08.11.18)
ham is a 3rd rate threat, that must be dealt with accordingly.
Instead of wasting IDF resources on ham terror, the time has come to
eliminate (kill) say 10 or 20 2nd level ham implementers, instructors, technicians.

Why 2nd level hams, ( the 1st level litter ) ?
To make the 1st level, the head hams realize that they might be next !
18. moishe rabeynu
moishe   (08.11.18)
too many intellectuals out there that should be making or fixing things rather than creating words. common sense on a lower intellectual level may be better to solve a problem. Gaza and WB are complex problems that are not easy to solve or to live with. Israel leaders have not failed so far because despite violence, Israel exists and prospers. even America has a violence problem that it cannot solve yet exists in relative peace and prosperity. until the "enemy' wants to have peace and not kill there is no solution. perhaps there never will be a solution.
19. deal with the problem at hand
mark   (08.11.18)
Israel must deal with the problem of Hamas and not focus on other fronts. it can handle 2 or 3 fronts at the same time; but it has to stamp out the problem of gaza once and for all. you cannot put a bandaid on it and gloss over it and leave it unattended.

so we have rumors that the northern front indeed was a factor in curtailing action in the south. this is a big mistake. Hamas under the leadership of yahya sinwar is making a joke out of netanyahu and his cronies shtienitz running israel like a rag doll.

i call on netanyahu to resign for the good of Israel. he is not a war leader, he shrinks from battle time and time again. which is why he constantly runs to Putin and trump to get them to do the job he is supposed to do. so in Gaza, now the second time he has not done the job. Israel looks weak under him. he is eroding israeli deterrence.

i call on netanyahu to resign. no idf soldier could take heart from your pathetic performance except for some pacifist politicians.

general foglt, former head of southern command, said he wanted to throw up in the face of your conduct of this round.

resign!

bennett is far, far more able to handle terror that you can
20. Sorry-I dont understand this article.Cant make sense of it
Alan ,   SA   (08.11.18)
21. Idiots like Kleinberg should have their computer/typewriter/
(08.11.18)
pencil removed from and never be allowed to utter any opinion in public (meaning: more than ONE person present!)
22. Netanyahu and Hamas feed off each othet
Bertram ,   London, UK.   (08.11.18)
The status quo suits them both. The periodic violence is choreographed. The real losers are ordinary Israelis and Palestinians.
23. Of course
..   (08.11.18)
YNET did not post any of my comments. Cowards!!
24. The palavras of Imbecile Kleinberg

26. This coUlf been written on a jihadist website they link t it

27. Gaza is not Israel 's responsibility
Ed ,   USA   (08.15.18)
Gaza has its own government, a government dedicated to the destruction of Israel. No amount of carrots is going induce it to change. The only thing that might is people like Kleinburg stopping blaming Hamas's militancy on Israel and the EU's stopping condemning Israel for protecting itself. I don't expect either to happen.
