1. Cpl R should be demoted to private or released from service.

His behavior shows the worst characteristics of a soldier. And he wants to become an officer? That's laughable and pathetic at the same time.

He also said, "This is what I was taught." So other people, possibly officers, are also in need of being kicked out of the service.

Do IDF officers think they're in some fraternity house at college, where they can act like psychotic abusive morons to the underclassmen?

The IDF works when everyone respects each other. Who's to say that if Cpl R and the victim were in a bad situation with some terrorists that the victim might let Cpr R get killed or injured out of 'payback?'

Or maybe Cpl R would let the victim get into a dangerous situation hoping he would get killed- thereby protecting Cpl R's abusive behavior?

Either way, the IDF is hurt.

The Cpr must be reduced in rank or kicked out of the service: in a professional army, there is no room for jackasses.

Incidents like these were reported at a much higher rate among New Immigrants for DECADES and the IDF ignored it most of the time! Suddenly, when it happens to sabras...then it is a crime. I suggest your hypocritical journalist remember that there are many, many people in Israel who remember these incidents when we were New Immigrants and the sabras did nothing to help us. NOTHING. Now you know why there is LOW MOTIVATION TO SERVE IN THE IDF. What is good for the goose is good for the gander.
5. He should get a much longer sentence.

Abusing soldiers destroys trust in the army and harms its fighting potential. Parents need to know that their kids will be serving under reasonable superiors and that the only possible danger comes from the enemy.
