Golda Meir was told that there would be a big war but she refused to attack because she was worried about "what the nations would say about us ."

Israeli leadership was afraid of being labelled " the aggressor" if they attacked egyptian and syrian armies in 1973 ,so Golda preferred 3000 israeli dead rather than being criticized.

What good are " warnings " if those in power fail to heed those warnings and act on them ?

The issue is not why warnings were not passed.
The main issue was that the army was not ready to repel an attack regardless of warning. That is a military failure.

Israels' arab enemies ,Egypt and Syria ,in 1973 had scant respect for an old lady grandmother figure a.k.a Golda. Arabs respect strong macho men, that is their mentality or way of thinking. If ,instead of Golda Meir , in 1973 Israel had a strong and macho man as Prime Minister, suchas Netanyahu or Ariel Sharon, Egyptians and Syrians would have been much less eager or willing to go to war against Israel. Now ,this may indeed be unpalatable and not ' politically correct" but I am convinced this it true .

Arabs respect and fear strong men ,they are unafraid of old grandmothers like Golda.

I was a regular IDF soldier in an Anti-Aircraft unit along the southern side of the Suez Canal. Friday, the day before Yom Kippur... a full day before the war broke out, Egyptian Migs fighter jets violated Israeli airspace along the Suez Canal, probably on a recon mission. We were put our on high alert to man our battle stations, to be ready to shoot the planes down. At the last second we were ordered NOT to fire... The next morning on Yom Kippur(!!) we were ordered to carry gas masks. No explanation was given. That was about 5 hours before the "surprise attack"... The IDF was indeed in the picture about what was going to happen!...

Declassifying this nonsense! The military and political levels got continuous and alarming information from commanders at the Suez Canal, but they were ordered to keep their mouth shut! Why? Because Israel was in a period of an electoral campaign. The slogan of the leading MAPAI party, with Golda Meyer as Prime Minister was: “YOU NEVER HAD IT SO GOOD!” So for Golda and her party it was inconceivable to order a general mobilization that could afterwards result in the loss of power (what indeed happened a few years later, because of this MEHDAL, a catastrophic blunder). Golda Meyer, Moshe Dayan and C° hoped that the Arabs will understand their “difficult situation” and postpone attacking Israel till after the elections, if at all… The rest is history with nearly 3000 death!
