The US is not exactly a small third world country that can be bullied by the UN and ICJ and so if they tell the ICJ go to hell what are they going to do about it, place sanctions on the US, the largest UN donor and be a shame if UN funding was cut or even stopped just like UNRWA over the ICJ.
The US also has a Security Council a veto and most countries rely on trade with the US directly or indirectly through parts for machinery etc via a third party which would end if there were sanction on the US.
Fact is when it comes to the US you can give them orders but if they refuse there is nothing that can be done about it.
