Cali   (10.04.18)
this is literally one of the worst articles i have had the pleasure of reading. nothing in this article is based on reality. the Russian public hates israel, putin can only fend them off for so long.

200 sorties by the IDF in israel wont stop Iran at all, but they do make israeli headlines and reinforce the delusional image israel has of itself on the world stage

to the author - please never write again. and if you do , make sure it stays on a small site that no one goes to , like this.
2. Russia is no longer the Soviet Union
DFSM ,   USA   (10.04.18)
While it certainly is is not a good idea to get involved in a military dispute with Russia, there is nothing wrong with taking them on diplomatically. Small politically isolated countries with little military power is what Putin thrives on. Israel, with it's atomic/hydrogen arsenal is not the Ukraine. And Russia is no longer the Soviet Union. With Trump, and not Obama, in power the United States is a strong ally. Therefore it is imperative on Bibi not to cave under Russian pressure. To honestly believe that Israel could fully appease Russia is folly.
3. You will have to step with true care & caution in Syria
Cameron   (10.04.18)
The Russians have maintained themselves there for long years & will do so with an even larger profile for the years ahead.

Look for no US 'activism' or heavy involvement in Syria now or in the near future.

Until we settle our own particular business with the Persians in the coming months the US will avoid further ME effort & entanglements.

The plate is full.

Is Israel chicken out ??
5. The problem is
Ivor Biggergun   (10.04.18)
and it is a problem

Trump was elected on an isolationist stance, you might cheer the American embassy being moved to Jerusalem, that was a reward for donations to his campaign. But Americans are sick to death with sending their children to the Middle East to be killed. Trump has made it clear he wants US troops out of Syria now ISIS has been defeated. It is the new doctrine deploy large numbers of troops get the job done then get out

In fact there are discussions to remove US troops out of Afghanistan and replace them with private defence contractors. Israel cannot rely on the US interfering with the Russians in Syria, that is a pipe dream that doesn't take account of Trump's subservience to Putin because of the tapes
6. Why would it be "ill advised" to confront Russia? You really
(10.04.18)
think they'd attack us?
Anyhow, it's "Syrians"/Iranians we're attacking, not Russia.
All she has to do is remove her paws from the cookie jar!
7. A sober, sound analysis. Without question the situation begs
Rafi ,   US   (10.04.18)
for powerful US intervention...

not unlike that which occurred during the last days of the '73 Yom Kippur War when US nuclear forces were ordered on DEFCOM 3 alert status by Nixon & Kissinger in the face of Soviet threats & provocation.

The problem is that today the Trump Admin is in continuous chaos - and PARALYSIS - and cannot apply Amer assets effectively or credibly. It also appears that the Pentagon would prefer to ignore the Russian challenge entirely - and focus its attention on China & the Far East.

As the article indicates, Israel will therefore need to proceed very cautiously & judiciously... the current situation is fraught with danger.

(Too bad that approach wasn't used BEFORE the Latakia attack - which in retrospect - even tho a tactical military success - must now be seen as a major strategic blunder...)
8. no worry! fake Benassi assures us Putin dances to Bibi tunes

russia has always been an enemy of the jewish state.
russia does not care that there are a million russian jews living in israel.
russia only cares about expanding military power and acquiring wealth.

netanyahu has done all he could to persuade putin to let israel alone.
this policy worked to some extant during the syrian civil war when
assad was still under threat from various sunni elements.
now that the sunni have been bombarded and slaughtered into
submission by assad-iran-russia, netanyahu's policy can no longer
work. putin now has total control in syria. furthermore, as long
as the trump administration remains rather quiet, russia can
continue to control the entire eastern mediterranean. russia has
an entire armada sitting there.
israel must find a way to circumvent russian forces if she needs to
use its air force in syria. this is an absolute necessity since
russia has decided for certain to fight against any non-shia forces
in the region. this is a strategic decision, and not one that can be
solved through diplomacy.
10. All posturing to hide ineptness of Russian Military+Syrians
Alan ,   SA   (10.04.18)
Norkin was ALLOWED (at Israel's request)to visit Shoigu in Moscow so that Russians would know how to concoct a script that sort of fitted the events as they happened. A few days after he returned to Israel, the Russians said everything said by Norkin was untrue and they were now able to produce their own PHOTOSHOPED version of events.( Even Steven Shpielberg could not have made a better movie). So now Putin has the opportunity to dig Russia deeper into Syria and consolidate their stay.. . The Russians want to take part in reconstruction of the Syria they bombed to smithereens
11. More Worrisome than Stated
joe ,   Gush Etzion   (10.04.18)
"The bottom line is this: Russia providing the S-300 system to Syria is indeed not good news for Israel, but it is not a threat that would prevent the IAF from carrying out the missions it was tasked with." Added to the 'not good news' is the Russian success in allowing Iran to station its forces within a two hour drive from the Israeli border. F-35's, Israel's 'answer' to the S-300 cost $148,000,000 each and are not off the shelf items. Nor have there been reports of the resumption of airstrikes by the IAF since 9/17.
12. Knowing One's Real Place in the Scheme of Things
joe   (10.04.18)
Most people realize that in the real world like in sports, there are majors and minors. Minors do not mess around with the majors. Russia, and the US are in the major leagues. Israel due to its size in population and area are not there and as a result as often happens, the big guys push the little guys around and get away with it. That leaves the little guys with the only option to make speeches.
13. Putin is bluffing as usual
Shachar ,   Eilat   (10.04.18)
The stalemate in Syria was in Israel's best interest. Western and Israeli weakness allowed Putin to win the war that was costing him heavily. Rebel groups need to be rearmed, they can bleed Russian and Iranian coffers for years to come and keep the northern front quiet. By abandoning the battlefield we got Iran with Russian backing on our northern border. Hitting Assad also hurts Putin, time to push back.....

Russia shall be a major player in middle east Not to come to 1973 situation where Egypt was fully and military supported by sovietics and it costs Kipour war,USA must inforce support do Saudia ,Irak and Egypt to balance Russia influence
16. Good analyze, but bad tactics
Ksato ,   Boston   (10.08.18)
Every single pro-western reviews or opinions seems to me a very and very poor in terms of estimation force of their enemy. Russians are not a puppy, and their weapons are superior, every western move in Syrian is coordinated with Russians. How the hell you saying that 8.5 Million nation could even possible be a threat with only 6 F-35 jet fighters (that needs an approval from US to be used, and if S-300 take them down, Jesus, entire jet industry will collapse in a second with all contracts ) to the empire like Russia? I dont get it? I think all western people think that they are the best of the best and no one can beat them... Just like Connor, he was really sure that he will win a fight with Khabib, but entire world is laughing at this dumb ass. I guess its in your western blood, to be a global clowns
