Although being under treacherous British Third White Paper policy, the Jewish Agency had still a possible quota of 15.000 immigrants per year! Or were the 907 passengers aboard the St Louis considered as rabble? I refer to an article written by Moshe Shertok (later Moshe Sharett, second Israeli PM) criticizing Jabotinsky's so-called "illegal immigration" trying to save any Jew, young, old... and wrote "bring in the good, and leave the rabble” (By good, Shertok meant Marxist educated young people). Read "the Seventh Million" by Tom Segev. I can’t find any intervention of the Jewish Agency concerning the St. Louis!
