1. His most difficult job
DSM ,   USA   (11.26.18)
Maj. Gen. Kochavi's most difficult job will to stop the IDF from being used as a pawn for politicians at the highest levels of government.
2. perception of israel is also important
ray   (11.26.18)
perception counts in the middle east. what leiberman and bennett were getting at was to deliver crushing strikes on hamas to eliminate the perception that Israel was weaker. kameini and rouhani jumped on this point.of course israel could defend very well and harm the iranian govt if it wanted to. but perception counts.

bibi, shteinitz, katz, erdan and others are responsible for not taking bolder action along with the idf which does not look at the political end of things.

for netanyahu, it was par for course. he would not have hit the tunnels a few years back if not for the noise of bennett and lieberman.

this is why Bennett is needed at defense or at the top. Israel has to be bolder so adversaries do not feel emboldened.certainly, israel cannot afford livni, gabbay or lapid as they would even be weaker than bibi
3. IDF needs
C   (11.26.18)
it is crucial to make the enemy go blind deaf and dumb.
cyber/electronic warfare capabilities have to be at the very top of excellence.
robotics, including on the ground, need to be also at the top.
psychological warfare and disinformation campaigns need to be improved.
logistics must be secured.
idf soldiers' psychological preparedness needs to improve.
the various parts of the armed forces need to continue to be
integrated. missile capabilities, including ground to ground missile
capabilities need to be established and improved.
strength through stealth and speed needs to improve.
every possible scenario needs to be predicted and planned for.
4. Why allowing two or three fronts
Rahmiel   (11.26.18)
The terrorists cults and their masters in Iran never stopped their war against Israel. Amassing rockets, building huge underearth bunker and tunnel systems under Dahiyeh, Gaza, south Lebanon, are not "quiet" or "hudna" or "no war". ISRAEL MUST DEGRADE the hundreds of thousands of rockets PREEMPTING the eruption of these wars. It cannot sit and wait for a two or three front war. It's absurd, irresponsible and stupid.
5. Good article but i really doubt that the idf is ready for a
Tehraniporou   (11.27.18)
multiple front war now. It will be able to respond no doubt on that. I believe that the playing field has been levelled by your adversaries capabilities. At the time of Moshe Dayan, Israel had a clear military edge. Israel is still the most technologically advanced army but a full-fledged war will take such a toll that people wouldn't bare it. I question the so-called improvement of the strategic situation. It is time that adversaries talk to each other directly and establish - the red telephone line.
6. Reverse mad Israeli retreats and concessions
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.28.18)
Israel was SO much safer when we had Gaza and our South Lebanon Security Zone. Nobody wants more war. But if we are forced to fight another war, let us keep our liberated lands forever. Victory in war should permanently benefit Israel. Our victories should NEVER be abused as an excuse to cede our land to our foes with a "peace treaty". Virtually ALL Israel's serious problems are direct results of insane Israeli retreats and concessions.
