1. israel has to be strong backed up by diaspora
jeff   (11.28.18)
history teaches that Jews can only depend on themselves. they must be in charge of their own security, no condo arrangements as olmert suggested. as for big powers russia, usa, europe forget about them. they have their own interests and problems.

we know that jews who fled to the forests to fight had a chance and some survived. those that hoped, prayed, and tried to flee ended up in ashes.

bullies, even the loud ones back off when the Israeli fights back. and israel has the means, big means to fight back. this has to be the main ace that israel carries. it can take down any aggressor regardless of price.

Israel cannot afford politicians who scurry to usa and putin begging for sympathy-forget about it. gabbay livni and lapid would lead to loss of control of strategic points and overdependence on big powers which is unacceptable.

moreover, israel has to always have extrasupply of oil and weapons of all type it cannot get short as bibi was with lack of hellfire missiles or firefighting planes. he simply does not think like a soldier.

arabs can teach jews a lot about defending themselves as they have weapons and are unafraid to use them. this has to be mindset.

one big issue is the orthodox and temple. times require that jews leaving temple should put away their religiois garb, change clothes so as not to be identifiable. in an ideal world, one would not have to do this. but too many make easy targets.

also self defense training for all of them is must.

rabbinic leaders have to learn from history. the old customs have to be adjusted.

learn from the jewish partisans who recovered jewish pride and self respect.
2. Not Your Style
joseph goldberg ,   gush   (11.28.18)

"But this is not Netanyahu's problem at the moment. The defense minister's first task is to stabilize the situation on the Gaza border, and the decisions required to achieve this goal will not be to the liking of the right wing."It was never your style to equivocate: spell it out.
3. I hope
cfspirit ,   fr   (11.28.18)
Israelis and Palestinian will find peace.
4. The real answer is to reverse mad Israeli retreat from Gaza
Chaim ,   Israel   (11.30.18)
Israel will suffer wars, terror, rockets, incendiary kites and every other evil from Gaza till we reverse our mad retreat from Gaza, which is the root cause of ALL our Gaza problems. It was an act of utter self destructive madness to flee Gaza and Israel has been paying a severe price ever since. Israel's government needs to retake Gaza forever and rebuild our beautiful thriving communities there.

Foster massive "Palestinian" departure from our land. If the tables were turned, and (heaven forbid) "Palestinians" defeated us, they would mass murder us all in a heartbeat. They scream out their desire to massacre us every day to the heavens.
5. netanyahu out to prove himself
jared   (11.30.18)
bibi now wants to prove himself at defense to refute lieberman and Bennett saying he capitulated to hamas.

the thing is bibi can do small stuff . but when it comes to big things, short of war or war itself, his own experiences in my judgment have paralyzed him with fear and render him unfit to lead defense or even the pm job.

suppose an all out with Hezbollah and Syria would involve 5000 Israelis dead, 25000 syrians and Lebanese killed in a vicious Stalingrad type war. a fight to the finish/ bibi would run away from it or sign a bad ceasefire deal. he is not made for a big fight. and he will not change.that is who he is, a man of words, a diplomat and trader, not a warrior.

Bennett can lead Israel with confidence. Israelis-do not screw it up. bibi is ot Mr. security. he is more Mr. cream-puff.
6. Bibi's caution... ICC watching Israel for War Crimes now
Steve Benassi ,   Plymouth, MN USA   (12.01.18)
... so Israel is under the microscope, any blatant large-scale misdeed by Israel will trigger a War Crimes prosecution for 2014 Gaza War, and any other new Wars initiated by Israel.
