IDF statements indicating that the soils of the north weren't conducive to tunneling into Israel were total nonsense. How could they tunnel all over south Lebanon and just magically stop at the border? Lol. The probability of finding all the tunnels is likely low and Merkava tanks are certainly no help for fighting underground. It is my sincere hope that Israeli special operations are being conducted on the Lebanese side of the border because this strictly defensive posture the IDF has adopted as of late isn't getting to the root of the tactical problem.

asymmetric guerrilla armies do not assume responsibilities for local civilian populations and so are less constrained than state armies. the facts are historically that the Russians and Americans targeted the German civilian population aside from the Nazi army. and it broke them.

Israel will have to include the enemy civilian population and break their will if it wants to survive, it cannot conduct a war of hell hygienically, bibi is incapable of driving an all out war. he cannot do it.
