1. If Iran attacks through Hizbulah
Yosi ,   Jerusalem   (12.28.18)
So we must attack Iran directly and put them in their place, once and for all.
Enough small talk.
2. Israel murdered Rafic Hariri to destabilize Lebanon, Syria
Steve Benassi ,   Plymouth, MN USA   (12.28.18)
This War Crime has backfired on the Racist Thieving Arrogant "Jews", they got Iran-Russia-Turkey and S-300/400s on their border now.

Delusional Fake Hebrews Hang themselves, again, and again, then whine forever that the world doesn't love them.
3. RESOLUTION 1701 UNSC ITS NOT A BAD JOKE.//ITS SERIOUS+ REAL
DANN-SHSCollaborator ,   MONTEVIDEO   (12.29.18)
Resolution 1701 fromUNSC in NEW YORK from AUGUST 2006 will probably be tested several times till AUGUST 2019 .// It has been tested recently with the apparently Jizbala tunnels in the BLUE LINE border betwee Medinat Israel and Lebanon Half of them at least were apparently classified asmore and less dangerous by UNIFIL observations from the Lebanese side
I would like to remember and remind to TZAHAL to Lebanese Army to Jizbala illegally armed shia movement and to Teheran ayatollas and specially to the strong deployment of 10.000 BLUE CAPS in the renewed UNIFIL in SOUTH LEBANON THE implicit and explicit RESPONSABILITIES FOR ALL THE PARTS IN THE WATCHING AND FULL IMPLEMENTATION OF RESOLUTION 1701 of UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL OF AUGUST 2006 FROM NEW YORK .
4. Israel attacking Iran directly....
Arnie ,   Montreal   (12.28.18)
can be achieved but it must be well thought out with precise targets because by the time the IAF returns all he’ll would be breaking out with Hamas, Hezbollah, and possibly Syria.
That is where the USA comes in as a back up.
5. article offers little new, there are no easy answers...

Meanwhile, Gen. Eiland you offer the same fallacious illogical argument:

"Western powers, who have invested great effort in Lebanon and desire to save it from destruction, SHOULD EXPLAIN to the Lebanese government the ramifications of placing the country's military force in the hands of Hezbollah and its patron, Iran."

But just several paragraphs above in your article you say (correctly):

"Lebanon and the Shiite terror organization have an unwritten agreement: the government is responsible for civil issues and represents the country's beautiful side, while Iranian-backed Hezbollah is the sole military force in the country, telling the Lebanese army where to deploy its troops, and deciding whether calm prevails on the Israel-Lebanese border."

So Gen Eiland... how is the weak ineffective govt supposed to give direction to the "sole military force" in Lebanon - the latter of which can obviously DO WHATEVER IT PLEASES?

Your "formula" here makes no sense and is contradictory.

Meanwhile are the Western powers prepared to intervene on behalf of the weak little Lebanese govt? Trump? Not likely.
6. General israel must finally allow the military

Censorship to overturn the ban on my relocationship with shaked. Her sexy legs will bring harmony and alleviate tensions in the region
7. Clueless as usual
Avi L.   (12.28.18)
The author doesn't seem to have internalized that Lebanon is a khomeinist's hostage and as such can't do anything against its kidnapper

He is droning and droning that destroying Lebanon would deter khomeinists from attacking Israel. Really? with hundreds of thousands of projectiles, enough to saturate any defense? What they want is to hurt Israel showing they are the ones able to do so and that Israel is vulnerable thus bringing other islamists to join the attack, because however big is the damage to Lebanon being able to survive (Putin swithching on and firing S400? Maybe Beirut calling Putin for help?) and to hurt Israel would be constructed as a victory

Talking of bringing down the sky over Lebanon is not what would deter khomeinists

What would do the job would be to show that Israel knows how and is willing to play the middle eastern game

Destroying Hamas and letting free "P.A" gangs of extolling their vendetta over hamasniks, in a kind of a preview of what could happen in case sunnis were ever able to do the same with alawis and shias in Lebanon and in the Sykes-Picot entity called "Syria".
Turkey under erdo is hosting exactly that very same sunnis (ISIS, alqaeda.3) who are chaffing of giving back what they endured in the last years, still remembering Hama in the '80s.
Sultanchik would just love to be seen as the new capiph, defender of the oumma and soon the whole Gulf (funders of jihad), now so "pro Israel" would switch its sympathy to erdo

And what is needed to kickstart this second northern front scenario if not pulling the pin that holds all together?
Assad, that's it

Let's not forget who is responsible for reaching this new low point if not Dear Leader Bibi by not wanting to risk his own throne in a necessary extirpation of Hamas
8. The WORST betrayal?
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (12.28.18)
The UN

For failing to clearly demand clearly and unequivocally, a complete demilitarisation of Hezbollah and restoration of Lebanese military jurisdiction, sovereignity and independence BACK TO LEBANON

And CLEARLY and UNEQUIVOCALLY spotlighting the toxic, destabilising and pernicious attachments and loyalty Hezbollah maintains DIRECTLY and COVERTLY with Iran undermining the integrity, security, cohesion and prosperity of Lebanon which instead in fast changing from the Mid East SUNSHINE STATE to a veritable BASKET CASE

Its time the UN and international community SPOKE UP NOW LOUD AND CLEAR BEFORE ITS TOO LATE

Because should Hezbollah-Iran conspire to unilaterally start another of their malignant and hegemonic wars out of sovereign Lebanese territory against Israel or indeed Turkey, the level of destruction wrought upon Lebanon might be such that Lebanon might not survive
