1. a blow to democracy.
tiki ,   belgium   (01.02.19)
The first rule of Democracy is the of separation of powers.

It's being trampled by the Attorney General's office with constant leaking & rumors.

Attorney Mandelblit has become a party in the elections.
2. Y would the people need 2 know? He is our king! Teeheehee!

3. Are they JOKING?
Eileen ,   Kiryat Ono   (01.02.19)
BIBI is the one who called for the election...plaaning it during the time that the investigations are continuing, And now he and his lawyers are complainig that it isn't fair? That's like shooting himself in the foot and blaming it on the bullet.
4. its political decision & will maybe brig a leftist governmen
zionist forever   (01.02.19)
If he does it will be seen as political and it may also bring about a leftist government because this will cause Likud to go into meltdown right in the middle of an election campaign and the right now has to many parties each competing for a share of the vote and so all these things combined could allow the left to slip through the net especially if Benny Gantz is willing to join or lead a leftist coalition. Even if the right won the right wing vote will be spread so thin that even if a coalition is formed it will be very unstable and we will probably be lucky to survive 2 years.
5. Innocent?
Jez ,   Netanya   (01.02.19)
But he says he's innocent so perhaps mandleblit will say no hearing. Then it will be unfair to the other parties
6. Stop Hounding Mr Netanyahu
Sanhedrin   (01.02.19)
Everything about this case is so wrong -- from the length of the investigation, to the aspersions cast on Mr Netanyahu's reputation, to the lack of care for how this case might undercut Israel's standing amongst its neighbours and in the world. No amount of hounding is enough to satisfy Mr Netanyahu's persecutors, none of what he has achieved to advance Israel's standing in the world or to better his people's lives matters; no, there must be no letting up until there is bloodletting, his persecutors say, for those cigars and the champagne and the good press he so rarely gets.

No one in his right mind believes Mr Netanyahu would wilfully betray the public's trust or sell out his people's interests just for a few smokes, a pop of bubbly and a couple of likes in the media?

That is simply not consistent with Mr Netanyahu's history of service and commitment to Israel and its cause. This is a person who has sacrificed everything for Israel and the Zionist cause; note his MIT/Harvard papers and his connections -- he could have stayed in the US and made a very comfortable living for himself (millions for a career in consulting or IBanking) and forget about Israel altogether. Instead, he gave all that up to lead Israel towards a brighter and more secure future. And guess he gets for all his troubles? Meagre pay and endless harassment from the very people he tries to protect. Well done indeed, Mr Mandelblit.

And even if Mr Netanyahu did try to secure positive media coverage for himself through Walla, so what? Good for him, I say. If indeed he did, it would have been to advance his foreign-policy goal of thawing relations with Israel's Arab neighbours. Mr Mandelblit might not like it, but politics in the Middle East is very personality driven. When Mr Netanyahu approaches these Arab strongmen to drive a deal for his country, these Arab leaders would research the Web to find out what the Israeli people think of their leader. These Arab personalities are less likely to advance a deal with Mr Netanyahu if all they read are reams and reams of bad press on him; who would? So, it is perfectly legitimate, way past time, in fact, that Mr Netanyahu secured a media outlet that gave him fair coverage and allowed him to air his government's side of every story vital to Israel's interests. I have news for Mr Mandelblit: the rest of the world already does this, and they do it for a reason - because positive press that enhances the stature of the administration makes it easier for the leader to cut great deals for his country, and that includes you, Mr Mandelblit!

For Mr Mandelblit and his team to persecute Mr Netanyahu endlessly for something this petty (cigars and champagne, really?) and for trying to advance Israel's security interests by securing good press is simply unacceptable, appalling and morally offensive.

Israel is on the cusp of a diplomatic breakthrough in the region, and in the world. Like it or not, Mr Netanyahu is vital to that success. If Israel were to stumble because of Mr Mandelblit's over-the-top and hamfisted handling of this case, history will surely not forgive him and the only thing he would've achieved is secure his place in lore as a true villain.

tomer ,   jerusalem   (01.02.19)
when a hierachy becomes pathological . Meaning that this hierachy
(political, cultural, scientific, social etc) thinks it s the "last" word, irreplacable and
the only "truth"and untouchable. Bibi and his government have reached this point. they became a political pathological hierachy.
Its bitter for us,bad for the future of the state and for morals and ethics in our
society.
so what will happen ??? With the old established political parties, either in disarray or in selfdestruction modus only a new ,fresh untainted movement
with a future vision and the will of implentation will spell hope. This however
needs still to be formed ." gantz, lapid, livni, yaalon ,lieberman group could do just that.
