2. Mediocrity reigns supreme
Disillusioned   (01.10.19)
Unfortunately, Israelis have for decades had to live with mediocrity as the standard. Hardly anything works. Everything just rattles along and sub-standard is the norm. Nobody has any accountability, least of all the politicians - and especially not the prime minister

Underpaid workers are lazy and couldn't be bothered. This is why we get sub-standard work, checked by nobody because those who are supposed to supervise don't believe that they have the title for a reason. There's always something, or someone else, to blame -- especially the customer.

This is why we have 4 or 5 spellings of street names. And textbooks like this. It's why even this illustrious publication has appalling translations, with unchecked grammar or spelling, with nobody who can be bothered to proof-read - as seen in the 2nd and last paragraphs, and in the majority of its articles.

The "start-up nation" is the "put up with second best" nation. Our best efforts are sent abroad, not used here because we simply don't expect, or demand, better.
