We can say certain things about him:
Its not that the armies determination collapsed under him, it didn't, he introduced girlie soldiers and destroyed the basic inner motivation of all our "tough guys".
How good a general is a man who never mind enemy rockets, jets and smart weapons, cannot shoot down children's (indecendiary) balloons?
With respect, the last part of the article's individual soldiers problems are more likely to be just that and part of any army commanders problems..
Your insight about infantry inferior to air power and armour is a very common perception in Israel, alone. In all other countries, infantry is very much intergrated into all modern battlefields and all the military writings i have seen over the years take our I.D.F. severly to task for our faliure to use them. The warnings about our current situation, go back as far,-what i saw, to from b4 the yom kippur war.-Thats not from prophecy, but simply an application of basic military history

2. he was more concerned with protecting the enemy than with

protecting israel's civilian population.

the situation on the southern border has been horrendous for many
months. eisencott did not do the necessary to deter hamas from
using incendiary weapons against israel, nor from using its
missiles, many hundreds of them.

courage is not only physical, but also moral.
israel is in a difficult position given the left's and that of certain
western countries' hatred of the jewish state.
but it is precisely in such situations that moral courage and
moral clarity are the most needed.
3. We need to get back to Golda Meir's philosophy
Chaim ,   Israel   (01.14.19)
Eisenkot is an example of the WRONG military thinking, which has caused Israel so much harm. Eisenkot is more afraid of hurting our "Palestinian" foes than letting our precious IDF soldiers die.

We need to get back to Golda Meir's philosophy which made Israel respected by friends and foes alike. Meir said, "Those who attack Israel should not be surprised when Israel hits them back seven times harder". Those are words to live by!
4. overall Eisenkot will probably be well-regarded by history

Is it fair to fault the Chief of Staff alone for a drop in IDF volunteer unit recruitment levels? Seems to be a society issue overall.

Meanwhile he was definitely courageous stand during the Elor Azaria debacle.
