Gantz is a nice man, a decent man, an honourable sort. But what in the name of sanity is wrong with this nation for making such a to-do about giving him so much credit only because he's a former Chief of Staff? Reasonable as his tenure was, it was nothing outstanding either.
Have we become so desperate for new blood that is thus far untainted by corruption and scandal that someone who starts a party but doesn't even say WHY, or for what purpose, or with any form of vision stated from the start - be it a good or bad one - is immediately given 15 mandates? I mean , for goodness sake, not even to hold a press conference, present himself to the country and ask for their support, quite frankly, a mark of disrespect, let alone incompetence.
This is, as usual, all about ego. He's loving the mystery, playing a game. Most of all, he's actually looking for a party. It has a name (and a rather stupid one) but that's just about it. Here's how it plays out:
I am going to vote for Resilience. I don't know what it's about, I don't know how it'll handle my children's education, my 7 hour wait in the emergency room, I have no idea what its stand is on the Palestinians, or on foreign relations, or on policing. I don't know who else will be involved. But hey, what's a policy or two in the equation?
Many a new party has come, and has gone. I think this is a case of - and allow me to even use (more or less) Mr Corruption's own words: in Gantz there was nothing, still is nothing, and and there still will be nothing.
To the "instant messiah" seekers already going to waste their precious votes on yet another fly-by-night instead of strengthening the opposition, - go for the party with the best manifesto, the best plan and hard-working MKs. Stop falling for media speculation.
