It is very likely that many years ago an advertising agency, of the many who worked for the franchise, came to know these meanings, and believed that the crucifix with the clown could be a good promotional image.

Any logo has the potential to be controversial. It's worth mentioning that to many people the McDonald's large M has always seemed to represent the two Moses' Tables of the Law put together, giving them to believe that the franchise was controlled by the Jews.

In any case, I think that the Minister of Culture has overreacted with the incident, and that Deputy Attorney General is absolutely right.

She's not the keeper of the religion gate. She bases her decisions purely on her own narrow perceptions. She has about as much culture as the average walnut yet seeks to dictate what the rest of the country should see or not see. The only followers she has are similar-minded people from ignorant and uneducated backgrounds. The sooner she loses her job, the better.
