What do you know of Hebron? Very little I expect.
In 1968 A group of Jews pretending to be Swiss citizens asked to be allowed to have a Pesach Seder In Hebron. After Pesach they refuse to leave and were allowed by Israel's government to live in a military camp on the edge of the city. This piece of trickery has led to an absurd situation, where 1000 Israelis have to be guarded day and night by hundreds of soldiers in a city with a population of more than 220,000 Arabs. In 1994 an American Jew Baruch Goldstein living in Hebron, carried out a massacre in a mosque. He pretended to be an officer in the army, walked into the mosque in army uniform and armed with an M-16 rifle. He then Killed 29 Moslems at prayer including six boys under the age of 14. 125 were injured.The people in the mosque finally managed to overcome him and kill him. His supporters claimed that he was murdered by the Arabs.
According to the agreement between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, Palestinian cities are out of bounds to Israelis including military personnel. The only reason that there is a presence of the IDF in Hebron is because of the 1000 illegal settlers in that city.
I suggest you read the article about Hebron that appeared in the Jerusalem Post In 2017. Incidentally Jerusalem Post is a very right-wing newspaper and supports everything the government does.
