This is a narrow street. They don't want to bump into each other.

in their faith, so that they cannot control their urges? Are they so immoral that a mere sight of a men and women walking the same street immediately sparks rumors? Couldn’t all these problems be solved by a simple common decency? Are we even reading the same Torah here?

How is that "excluding" women? I've been on these alleyways MANY times. They're tiny little alleys. Easy to bump into one another. Just let Jewish values of respect for not wanting to stare at women be seen as a protection. The men can't go on the women's alley, and the women can't go on the men's. Separate can be equal. Especially when you're talking about 50 meters of a shortcut around a shul!

Chareidim women have the right for men not to violate their space.
