1. Correct!
solomon ,   New York   (03.28.19)
Correct: unilateral actions do nothing to assist in finding a long-term peaceful solution to the conflict in the Middle East.” The UN’s aggressive revision of international law puts coal on the fire. The UN is willfully blind!
2. Sovereignty over Golan
Sjoerd van der Velde ,   Hoorn Holland   (03.28.19)
This is a bilateral agreement between The United States and Israel. This is no business for the still bad functioning, biased and undemocratic United Nations. If they keep on behaving like this, let them go to hell and let us leave this UN. Israel has to defend it"s people. just as any other country
3. Slamming the US
tiki ,   belgium   (03.28.19)
The only ones who should be slammed are the 'honorable' members of this UNSC. Shame on them!

Legitimizing a a merciless dictator who doesn't have a problem gassing millions of his own people, killing more than half a million man/woman & children and wounding/maiming & orphaning millions more and turning 7 million of his citizens into refugees.

Yes, the UNSC really showed it's good judgement & moral compass again.
4. UN and france can go to hell
rex   (03.28.19)
most of the EU are gutless countries dependent on usa and israel to thwart terrorism. israel may reduce its assistance unless there is rapid change of voting by the eu.

as far as france is concerned, it can go to hell.

6. PLAY a much larger role UN through becoming impartial.
Michael ,   California, USA   (03.28.19)
But the forty-nine Muslim majority countries have hijacked the UN regarding most everything pertaining to Israel. Impartiality of the UN must be restored before the UN can become a player again. Woodrow Wilson is turning in his grave while the "great powers" mostly play dead. It's ridiculous.
7. International law says....
David ,   Hartford USA   (03.28.19)
that the attackers in war may not take control over seized land. Israel did not attack Syria- Syria attacked Israel, but Israel won the war. Thus Israel should retain ownership and control of the Golan.

The law was made to prevent war-mongering entities from expanding their holdings simply because they won a war. The writers of the law couldn't conceive of a time when any attacker would fail to win. Israel was defending its very existence from Syria's attack and gained control of the region to protect itself in the future.

The world can whine about Trump's declaration, but he did the right thing: announce to the world that Israel won the Golan fair and square and that's all there is to it.

If this was a championship boxing match, where Syria won the first round but lost the fight, would anyone think it had the right to claim the winner's gold belt? No. This Golan thing is exactly the same situation, just on a larger scale.

Syria attacks Israel from the Golan, Israel takes a beating but eventually fights back and wins. Israel now owns the Golan. End of story.

If Syria tries to 'take back' the Golan, it will be attacking a sovereign country, Israel, and should fully expect to get its ass kicked. But if Assad and Syria insist on giving up more land to Israel, I guess we'll just have to accept it.

10. Israel needs the UN more than Russia
Mr.Reason ,   Berlin   (03.28.19)
The UN, the international law, as much as it is imperfect, it is a base for solving conflicts world wide not by war, but by negotiation.
This is smart, and became to an imperative in Nuclear Age, since 1945.

Israel, and all other, especially small countries, need the international law more, than USA, China, Russia, India, etc.

USA is in the process of destroying the international law, since only then it can continue - so it leaders assume - to maintain a world financial system by force, which is strongly depending on US (petro)-dollar scheme.

By doing so, it undermines the international stability.

It is in Israel's interest to keep the strategically important Golan Hights, as well as to maintain the international law.

US's desire and subsequent policies to benefit over due from the international economy must not be allowed to instrumentalize Israels security needs.
