ex Oleh Chadash   (04.25.19)
if you leave the country and return, they cut your kupat cholim rights off.

To activate it again, there are some bureaucratic steps...

I was in need of medicines for diabetes and blood pressure, some pharmacies refused to sell me drugs because the prescription came from a foreign doctor.
Fortunately, I found at TLV a pharmacy that sold me what I needed: medicines cost a lot in Israel.
2. "The benefits of Socialized Medicine"
Koose E Mack ,   Great Satan   (04.25.19)
If Israel needs more Doctors and Nurses, the logical thing to do is to pay Medical Professionals a decent wage and keep the Government out of Health Care. Free Enterprise and competition works; Socialism is the path to mediocrity and failure!!!

mark ,   tel aviv   (04.26.19)
doctors and medical staff are also very insensitive and outright rude and mean toward patients.
5. how was Israel's healthcare rated the best?
mark ,   tel aviv   (04.26.19)
I agree with everything in this article yet am baffled by how israel was among the world's six leading countries in healthcare (Health Care Efficiency Index published by Bloomberg) while the US was on the bottom of the list.

THE POPULATION OF ISRAEL HAS REACHED CRISIS PROPORTIONS
IT IS CROWDED AND THE HEALTH CRISIS AND POVERTY ARE A RESULT OF THIS....THE ULTRA ORTHODOX ARE PRODUCING CHILDREN AT AN ALARMING RATE AND ARE MOSTLY WARDS OF THE GOVERNMENT SO THE LEADER CAN FORM A COALITION TO RULE THE COUNTRY ISRAEL WILL BE DONE IN BY LACK OF FACILITIES LIKE WATER AND HEALTH CARE ...A BIGGER THREAT THAN IRAN

so what is the government going to do about it. NADA.perhaps another inquiry? politics and economics rate higher than medicine.
11. Ynet will not publish this
Moi   (04.30.19)
Deliberate discrimination. They made it so difficult for Olim from France to work as doctors and nurses, so that the balance between the Ashkenazi intelligentia and the Sephardi one stays in favour of the former.
12. I had a problem recently
zionist forever   (05.03.19)
I am an oleh from the UK and in September I had a fall hurt my wrist, at first thought just a broken bone but was pain.

I was going to the UK for a couple of weeks in November and decided to go and see a specialist there as my uncle is a surgeon he referred me to a wrist specialist who saw me quickly and did an MRI told me the wrist needed to be operated on or else I would probably get severe arthritis.
He gave me a letter explaining what was the problem and a copy of the MRI result and I took it to my family doctor in Israel who referred me to a hand specialist.

He was useless and was not even able to do any surgery and said there was a shortage on Israel of the number of surgeons who could do the job so I went back to the family doctor said I wanted a second opinion so went to a specialist in Tel Aviv and its hard to believe the man was a doctor because he was so crazy.
I went with my wife and she introduced herself as my wife and he tells her no your not your his companion man was crazy, he barely looked at my wrist read the letter from the UK and said ok you need surgery I give you a letter take this to hospital show to them.

I make an appointment to see a surgeon in my local hospital show him the referral etc and I go through a whole consultation show him the MRI results which he studies then tells me I cannot do surgery they only do it at Tel Hashomer.
Why not tell me straight out Tel Hashomer instead pf wasting everybody time with a consultation?

I phoned Tel Hashomer and I cannot even get a consultation with a surgeon till December 2019 and then who knows when the surgery will happen.
It will have been over 1 year since the injury happened before I can even get a consultation.

My wifes brother lives in Germany and he is a surgeon there and wants to make alliyah but he cannot practice surgery in Israel without undergoing a very long and expensive conversion course despite the fact he speaks fluent hebrew already.
The system doesn't make it easy for the patient and they do not make it easy for the qualified olim to come along and practise surgery in Israel so there is a shortage of doctors.
13. Missing an important point
Andi ,   Israel   (05.03.19)
The last government made it very difficult for doctors to continue private practice, without improving the public system. Patients who in the past would use private insurance, find that doctors can no longer treat them privately, making public hospital waiting lists longer
14. Our health system saved my life!
expatokie ,   mazkeret batya   (05.06.19)
Everything in this article sounds exactly like what happens in America except not mentioning the part about exorbitant costs even with health insurance. Yes we have a faulty system like most systems, but I find that the care is more thorough even with waiting lists. It's interesting to see that the author of this article is a litigation lawyer.
15. Israel's public health system
lazerbenabba ,   London, England   (05.06.19)
Very similar problems to our UK NHS.
There are never enough staff, never enough money and the latter will never change.
16. Everywhere
Kumo   (05.07.19)
Thats the same in all countries i think.
Also in Westeurope the lack of Doctors is because of Woman.
Why?
You must be a very good student.Onyl the best can studie Health.
But then the most woman Doctors dont work the whole week like Men,they mostly work only half a day.

Thats the true.
17. If you think our health care system is s bad, try America's!
Leah ,   Maalot   (05.12.19)
I am grateful to live in a country where these are the problems in our health care system.
