"ignorant - and at times apologetic - about the events of the Holocaust." It can and will matter only to those for whom being Jewish altogether has any meaning. For the growing number of apathetic, unaffiliated Jews throughout the world, they are unlikely to care about the Holocaust -- any more than they care about anything else Jewish. Holocaust-based Jewish identity is on the way out, especially as the remaining survivors enter their 80s and 90s.
