1. objectif ?
simon ,   new york   (05.06.19)
Israel had/has no objectif,or perhaps saving eurabvision.

That's exactly the problem.

A vision would be to erasse that place from earth, and to build a national park, orto get rid of the is brothers and install 5.000.000 chinese workers, or to attach it to egypt..

There are a lot of possibilities, but 1 thing is for sure hamas has to erased today, and for ever
2. Treat "Palestinians" as defeated mortal foes they are
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.06.19)
Our IDF, which once destroyed multiple regular enemy armies, is now content to teach terrorists to have patience while Israel tries to meet their demands. What is wrong with this picture? EVERYTHING!

There is only one way to end conflict permanently. That is through resounding victory and imposing your will on your vanquished foes. That is how the WW II Allies secured permanent peace throughout most of Europe and Asia.

Victory should be the only IDF objective. The only reason Israel's conflict with "Palestinians" goes on forever, is that we never treated them as the defeated mortal foes they are. We keep pampering our mortal "Palestinian" foes and wonder why they still maim, murder and harm us in every humanly possible way.

The only difference between Nazis and "Palestinians" is that Nazis had the opportunity to mass murder millions of Jews. "Palestinians" have the exact genocidal intent as Nazis, but lack the opportunity. Israel MUST begin treating "Palestinians" as the defeated mortal foes they are.
3. It would be nice if Ron's analysis is correct
Jake   (05.06.19)
And it may well have a lot of merit.
But in the Middle East, the "truth" is all about impressions.
And the impression on both the Israeli side and the Gaza/Hamas/IJ side is that Hamas/IJ are in control of the situation, switching the heat on and off at will.
4. Four Israelis are dead. This was not a success.
David ,   Hartford USA   (05.06.19)
At the next opportunity, Haniyeh must be eliminated. And please don't tell us bombing an empty house is some sort of victory. The leadership will take whatever house they want to live in and throw out the owners.

We can only hope that the people of Gaza are tiring of the misfortune Hamas brings to them.

If a single rocket enters Israel, I hope the IDF will repeat this recent activity in its entirety.

Zero tolerance.

15 years now. At least 100 times hamas has rained missiles on the south and Ron always writes how scared they are now that the IDF bombed some old ruins and sand dunes.....

how everyone with no responsibility for decision making on Talkback knows exactly what those who do should have done or should do. As for me? I think this piece makes the most sense. "carpet bombing" s a ludicrous idea - as is re-entry to Gaza for anything other than dismantling enemy infrastructure. For my two argorot it seems the targeting of enemy leadership from the air is a good part of why we invest so much in those capabilities. The hasbara efforts, see the EU statement and that of Canada point to success on the diplomatic front which support our military operations. There is no "magic bullet" I can see. Only steadfast and calculated intensification on this front seem to offer any hope if limiting further damage until the situation on the ground, ("the bush burned but was not consumed") Gazans sick and tired of being led down a fruitless path of despair and destruction are able to take matters into their own hands and replace their current leadership with others who can actually bring them the gain only available through facing reality and declaring once and for all: "peace is victory" and the war is a wrap.
8. Israel hit a bunch of targets and changed nothing.
Sam ,   Montreal   (05.06.19)
Hamas and Islamic Jihad will be back firing before long. Israel has to decimate Hamas infrastructure and its fighters to achieve deterrence not give it a few pokes and then stop.
9. Who is telling the truth?
Sidney   (05.06.19)
Netanyahu says dozens of terrorists were killed. The Palestinians say only a handful. Whether the IDF was a success or failure depends on who is telling the truth.
10. Israel held hostage?
jl   (05.06.19)
The last paragraph of your article is what SHOULD have already happened at least 6 times ago. Everything else is CAPITULATION!!!!!!
11. HOLLOW PROMISES
jl   (05.06.19)
NO objectives were reached. Only CAPITULATION to Hamas was realized!!!!!!!!!!!!

12. great article

14. more BS
larry ,   LA formerly   (05.06.19)
come on, Hamas is enjoying a victorious Ramadan while suffering little damage. They really don't care if the poor Arab slobs suffer in poverty as long as Israel is punished.

And as for us, the IDF is afraid to kill the heads of Hamas and their terror supporting families. Easier to bomb empty buildings.

A loosing situation for us and certainly not why I voted for Bibi. Never Again!
15. Gaza issue
atlan   (05.06.19)
Some 1,800,000 Arabs stay in 360 km2 in front of Israel ,in other hand in the 77,000 km2 of the Sinai less than 1,000 000 live in plenty cities as El Arishy or Port Said the only long term solution is to dispatch the Gazans in other places in Egypt or other Arab countries it will cost lot of money but less of a WW3 or the end of Israel State

you can't deal rationally with meshuganas that inflict misery all around. in short time there will be another series of rocket attacks. and another. send Israel rockets back to hit all targets. fight fire with fire.
18. Best war correspondent. Thank you

19. For the price of a few Iron Dome batteries...
Shlomo ,   USA   (05.07.19)
You could build millions of Grad type rockets and many multiple launchers so that when Hamas sends rockets into Israel, you immediately respond with 100 times that number.
20. Reverse mad Israeli Gaza retreat which caused all problems
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.07.19)
The obvious solution is for Israel to reverse our mad Gaza retreat which caused all the Gaza problems in the first place. If you look behind any of Israel's major problems, you will find insane Israeli concessions are the root cause. Retake Gaza forever. Rebuild Gush Khatif bigger and better than ever!
