1. How To Survive Long Term
DSM ,   USA   (05.07.19)
The IDF may be Israel's children, but there will be no children left if Israel continues to play the war of attrition game. Israel is vastly outnumbered by it's hostile Arab neighbors and they are in it for the long run. Killing a commander feels good, but another will quickly take his place. Wars are won by defeating the civilian population, something the U.S. stopped doing after WWll and therefore was defeated in Korea and Vietnam. Israel must break away from this model and face the wraith of most countries in the world, including the U.S. Much of the complaints will be because Israel is a Jewish state but at least Israel will survive for the long term.
2. Spot on
Netanya   (05.07.19)
What a perceptive article. Prof Yuval should be listened to. When will the Israeli electorate stand back and realise Bibi and his clutch of poodles are just smoke (plenty of that is the Gaza envelope) and mirrors
3. Wow
Matthew Haklai ,   USA   (05.07.19)
hard to believe something like that was allowed to be printed -
4. As inane article as they get(on the topic of "only not Bibi)
(05.07.19)
What "terror"??! Did author get the impression our citizens were expressing terror?!
Fear for life, when bombs fall is totally natural, but the general feeling of our population is rage and wish for quick revenge....well, Mr. Netanyahu didn't deliver (again) : too bad folks.
Everybody knows Arab thugs in Gaza (and elsewhere) can be wiped out in matter of hours, that goes for our PM & army as well, wouldn't you agree?
So stop and think: why does "bibi" do what he does, in spite of the wisdom of the people & rabid Bibi-phobiomats?
5. Netanyahu is no war monger
Sasha ,   Bilbao,Spain   (05.07.19)
Netanyahu won the elections precisely because he is a clever and man. What on earth do you propose, to drop an A bomb on Gaza? or enter there with all might? Destroying everything around killing again thousands of people there and loosing our soldiers in dozens. Gaza needs time and clever policy- in modern world it doesn’t have a military solution. The Palestinians are loosing their appeal even with the Europeans. Stop offering unrealistic solutions.
6. When HAMAS goes thru $30 million more rockets will fall
(05.07.19)
Sigh...and Netanyahu will by Divine Intercession with the enemy find a way to transfer more money! Meantime we who are about to die salute the Prime Ministrr
7. We should target - kill the leaders (like picture above)
barbara ,   Haifa   (05.07.19)
and the Islamic Jihad soldiers - then may be Gaza people can
make a successful country out of Gaza. Now all they get is destruction
every time leaders decide to rocket Israel.
8. So why did the generals hook up with The Lapid?
Basya ,   Rosh Pinna   (05.07.19)
Lapid was the reason many of us could not bring ourselves to vote outside the comfort zone.
9. Send your own sons to replace Hamas with PLO
Bar Star ,   Jerusalem   (05.07.19)
The article is a bunch of lies. Hamas has 20000 rockets and anti-tank missiles from Iran. It has a big army with a plenty of arms and ammunition. There is a flow of weapons going into Gaza over and under unguarded Gaza -Egypt border. Israel must take a control over this border again. Replacing Hamas is not our business.
10. bombs..... material for rockets...
Roy ,   ct   (05.07.19)
The more bombs that the zionist drop on Gaza, more material for the Palestinians to manufacture rockets and launch them agains the zionist state
11. Hey, at least the buses aren't blowing up.
Chaz ,   El Farque   (05.07.19)
If you're not willing to vaporize Gaza, there is no real short term solution. They have a Final Solution, and the Jews are it.
12. Yeah, yeah: he's "weak", he's "sweating" he's......The Boss!
(05.07.19)
13. Netanjahu
Tomer ,   Jerusalem   (05.07.19)
History will remember Bibi as the one who brought Israel's downfall..and we all looked at it,full of fear, doing nothing.
14. I just realized
Sasha ,   Bilbao, Spain   (05.07.19)
I have just realized what the PM himself said about it

“I do not wage unnecessary wars,” “I use force when it is needed and am willing to pay the price, but only when needed. More than that, I am willing to pay the political price when you don’t need [force]. I want every mother and father to know that I will not send their children to war without exhausting every possibility. It is very possible – very possible – that we will need to launch a wider military campaign in the Gaza Strip and mobilize the forces. But that is the last option, not the first.”
Isn’t he much more clever than the author of this article?
15. Bibi is not good for the Jews
Avi L.   (05.07.19)
16. Indeed, Netanyahu and Hamas need each other
(05.06.19)
17. But when he does act, FakeNews calls him a "warmonger"
Jake   (05.07.19)
Let's not forgot how the Media Machine brought low Ariel Sharon with all sorts of epithets and canards, when he acted ruthlessly and decisively against terror...but once he passed the Gaza Disengagement Plan, the Media agree to treat him like an "Etrog", and lay off the corruption cases against him, until all of Gaza was evacuated.
18. In the long run Gaza will either be nuked...
Snausage ,   Lisboa   (05.08.19)
or turned into a gimme zone that Israel can trade as a concession with little repercussion as who really wants to live there? Even the Arabs don't. They'll likely be offered a little scrap of Sinai wedged together with Gaza or just get a tactical nuke dropped on them with a special yield chemistry to insure minimum radiological fallout on parts due east.

Israel wants Judea Samaria and its strategic high ground, groundwater basins and historic/cultural significance stacks higher than the coastal cesspool that Gaza has turned into.

Yuval is dishonest as if we had a real rightwing government like a Khani-type thing, the guy would go ballistic. He's a Leftist trying to kowtow to right-leaning sensibilities but we know what he's up to and it's called, "leftist weak sauce."

Don't worry Mr. Yuval, the right is in ascent and based on Israel's demographic trends, only getting stronger. That time when a real right wing solution to the Arab problem manifests is getting closer and closer and when it happens, you'll complain about that too.
