The biggest problem the EU has is a wasteful benefit system that discourages self reliance and promotes the sick role and over dependence on the state.This has also led to a flood of illegal immigrants from all over the world.Although many of these immigrants work and are productive , there are tens of millions of immigrants in Europe who spend all their time and effort maximising the benefits from the state and adopting the sick role to gain more benefits due to the nature of the benefit systems that encourage and entrench reliance on the state.Israel probably has the right balance of self reliance versus benefits.

If the Haredim would go to work and pay taxes instead of sponging off the government, there would be enough tax money available for public social expenditure.
