To be fair, Verena Bahlsen was not around seventy -five plus years ago ,in the time of the war ,so she has limited personal responsibility for the then use of forced labour, she is not to blame for what happened then.She is in an awkward position, she can not be seen to condone the use of forced labour and she is trying to paint a rosier picture, which is understandable to a degree. The company has paid some money to a special foundation ,so it appears to be trying to make amends. Still , theis past episode does not reflect well on many german businesse which employed forced labour.
