1. "Neglect and filth greet tourists in Jerusalem"
Maximilian Teusch ,   Seldwyla   (06.02.19)
only in Jerusalem. Wherever you are, there is filth, neglect and plastic garbage. It seems. Israelis fight very well for their country, but do not keep it clean.

For example the beautiful little city Zichron Yaacov: Tourists call it Dog Shit City. Which is wrong, the streets are in most miserable condition, everywhere garbage, filth and smelling dead animals.
2. Politically Incorrect Truth
Shai ,   London   (06.02.19)
This is all in Arab areas of Jerusalem. Same for rest of the country. You go near their villages and the first thing you see is trash everywhere.

It's the same in Egypt and Morocco. The truth is, Arabs don't really care about regular trash pick up and recycling.

The Jewish quarter in J-lem is clean and pretty.
3. Combine all that with

often very annoying shopkeepers harassing tourists, cheating taxidrivers and all sorts of scammers trying to use the confused tourists. This problem will require cooperation of both the Jewish and Arabic populace of the Old City.
4. Question...
Sheila Ramon ,   Haifa   (06.02.19)
How much of that trash are tourists responsible for?
5. Do Jews in Jerusalem want to be seen as dirty Jews?
Sam ,   Montreal   (06.02.19)
If not, then do something about it. How can you have pride in a dirty city on Jerusalem Day or any other day?

This is a test. Thank you.
7. SECURITY SECURITY SECURITY!!! GIVE EAST JERUSALEM TO THE UN.

IF THIS GARBAGE AND TRASH WAS IN WEALTHY AREAS IT WOULD BE CLEANED.IN SHORT ISRAEL AND ISRAELIS DON'T KEEP THE COUNTRY CLEAN AS LONG IT DOES NOT EFFECT THEIR HOMES. WHEN I VISIT I FIND TRASH ALL OVER ISRAEL. DOWN TOWN HAIFA, ACCCO, AND TEL AVIV. GENERALLY ISRAELIS ARE LOW CLASS PEOPLE WHO JUST DON'T GIVE A SHIT. I SEEN ONCE IN GERMANTOWN HAIFA A MAN PISSING ON A CROWDED SIDE WALK. WELCOME TO THE HOLLY LAND. AFTER EVERY VISIT I APPRECIATE MY LIVING IN THE USA MORE AND MORE. SORRY FOR NEGATIVE COMMENT.

Both the filthiest cities in the country, notwithstanding a similar, Levantine mentality in the Arab areas and countries. All run by extremist religious ideologies.

All they are interested in is "women's modesty", dozens of charity boxes littered everywhere, and their dilapidated yeshivas. Cleanliness is way down their priority list and these filthy cities fill me with shame and revulsion.

11. No surprise here garbage rules everywhere
(06.02.19)
Especially during the high holidays, passover,
, Shavuot amd Succoth as well as durimg Christmas and Easter...obviously this garbage, rubbish, and trash is left by all if those non-Resident Jewish home owners and non-Jewish tourists...because truly we the real Jerusalemites are everyone of us neat and very clean people! :)
12. Brutti, sporchi e cattivi.
ex Oleh Chadash   (06.03.19)
The funniest of all, there are still those who pay expensive to live in this filth; There are people who rent out a room for 500 dollars a week! Suckers pay.

This is not the worst of all. I saw people defecating on streets at Jaffo. Children smoking in Kfar Saba. Just google Mea Shearim images and you can see children smoking there.
13. Jerusalem is a dirty filthy city & a big disappointment.
Rich ,   Toronto   (06.03.19)
I moved out after living there for seven months. It did not meet my standards. I watched Jews throw garbage down in the urinated streets with no regard for the place where they live. Yesterday, on Jerusalem Day, the air pollution in Jerusalem was very high - 103 micrograms per qubic meter of particulate matter 2.5 in the air. The cost of living is high and the quality of life is low. I could not believe that people were fighting over the place. Good luck, I‘m out!
14. Ramadan Ramadan Ramadan it’s always like this
EducateAndFine ,   Jerusalem   (06.02.19)
It’s not the city it’s lack of education and lack of fines
Most Arab countries look like this and the Arab Villagers coming to Ramadan always make it worse I don’t see ever any signs whatsoever in Arabic about trash and not many in Jewish neighborhoods either something very wrong don’t blame the current mayor it was like this under Barakat as well
15. Also inside occupied Israel?
Georgi ,   San Francisco   (06.02.19)
Because I thought its exclusive to Chile, Bolivia, Thailand and Sri Lanka to be blessed with Israelis trashing up beautiful national parks and other areas. (Aside from making noise everywhere)
16. Shai @2: u r wrong! Come look at Eilat...
(06.02.19)
And all other Jews places in Israel after a holiday...the dirty Jews leave their trash EVERYWHERE!
17. I know storekeepers who keep their sidewalks immaculate...
David ,   Hartford USA   (06.03.19)
and homeowners who wouldn't let a stray cigarette butt stay on the ground in front of their house. It's called self-respect.

The places with garbage all over- how often do the trash collectors come around? The overflowing trash containers indicate trash collection needs to be done more often.

If families live in poverty, you can't expect them to pay for more frequent trash removal. The city needs to take responsibility. But the people need to do their part and use what's provided, and not just throw trash on the sidewalk and street.

The mayors of these towns need to walk the streets with their Sanitation Department heads and make concrete efforts to remedy this situation. If they can't keep their cities clean, they should be replaced with people who can.
