1. Eilat does not need an airport, it needs a railaway!
(06.13.19)
How long are the residents going to wait for the promised train line? How long are the overcrowded buses going to risk the lives of their passangers on the narrow and dangerous Dead Sea Road in order to get to Eilat? Eilat needs a railway and it has to be a high-speed railway to compensate for the long distance and geographical isolation.
2. Dirty and expensive hotels in Eilat
Talula ,   Tel Aviv   (06.13.19)
Yep! definitely got a point there. It's disgraceful what they charge for rubbish rooms, bad service and well... dirt.
3. Poor decision
(06.13.19)
The root of Eilat's transportation problem is the poor decision to invest huge sums into a new international airport rather than a fast rail line.
4. Eilat is Exceptionally ugly city
Jake ,   Dallas   (06.13.19)
Zero town planning
Hotel Ghetto with overpriced hotels
Bizarre mall on the beach
Weird ugly buildings
Filled with trash
Beautiful geography with no thought as to making a nice city
5. complaint of the moment
David   (06.13.19)
I've had nothing but positive experiences in Eilat, and found the hotels where I stayed to be among the most beautiful in Israel. I also think that Sde Dov is one of the most charming airports in the world, and the experience of walking on to a plane while overlooking the blue waters of the Mediterranean is quite unique. But from a practical standpoint, it makes a lot of sense that this prime real estate is going to be developed. And when the decision was made years ago, that was all the rage-- solving the problem of affordable housing, and the tight housing market. Funny how the popular concerns shift. I'm not surprised that the Eilat mayor is nervous about this, although I think Ben Gurion airport will serve Eilat's needs completely. I am surprised that Ron Huldai is opposed. But it's all about the concerns of the moment.
6. Good question
Oliver ,   Eilat   (06.14.19)
Good question,if you pat me I would not spend a sheckel on a hotel room here I would rather spend it in Aqaba where the hotels are clean and the service is good and the rates room rates are fair.
7. The airport is a bet on European tourists
Jake ,   Dallas   (06.14.19)
But unless they improve Eilat, and its hotel ghetto, and its beach mall, and its horrible town center, and its ugly buildings, why will Europe go to Eilat when they can go to a Greek Island?
8. Vote winning
Jez ,   Netanya   (06.14.19)
Clearly by insulting the working people of eilath the great leader has found a vote winner
9. Eilst doesn’t need Sde Dov it needs to be competitive
zionist forever   (06.14.19)
Sde Dov is a little airport with charm and so people don’t want to see it closed but it’s built on prime real estate that’s worth a fortune and it’s not needed.
Ben Gurion Terminal 1 is already the main departure site for flights to Eilst and it has much better transport links than Sde Dov which is important if your ill, also unlike Sde Dov Ben Gurion T1 is open till late so the health of Eilat residents is not a viable argument for keeping Sde Dov open.

As for Eilat, the hotels are defiantly overpriced and even hostels are expensive and it is true many of them are dirty but that’s only part of Eilat’s problem, fact is the city hasn’t invested in making itself a more attractive resort by building facilities tourists will enjoy once the beaches close.
The city also needs to be doing more to attract big business not rely on tourism.

Somebody needs to come in study the cities problems and then say spend the money make this city a nice place so it’s not just sone little overpriced resort relying mostly on Israel’s looking for a getaway.
10. Seafront real estate
Avi L.   (06.15.19)
Sde dov location is worth billions of dollars once developed into a ultra high luxury complex

Who cares about Eilat's residents?

Who cares about Israel's security when ordering extra submarines instead of Iron Dome or hospitals?

Who cares at all?

There is money to be made, to hell all the rest!

It is time to oust Bibi and his clique from power and let justice do its course
11. Need to be against.....
Eliyahu   (06.15.19)
anything huldai is for.
12. Helio taxi service
Betty ,   KS   (06.15.19)
How much would it cost to implement a helio taxi
service for transportation between Sheba and a
helioport in Eilat city limits?

Not the small 4 seater used for tourists, but a converted
Yasur size that can carry over 20 passengers.
