It's interesting how it hasn't percolated into the debate, that the question was never about "immunity." It was about a postponement, for the purpose of allowing the PM to continue to govern, and face whatever charges there are after leaving office, when his leverage to negotiate something for himself, would be decreased. Indeed the constant element of all the legal cases is his interest in leading the State of Israel, and his attempt to secure more favorable coverage for this purpose. This is his motive. Not finances-- he could easily have done better for himself from a monetary standpoint, if he desired. It is not as though he is without those aptitudes or training. And it is not self-protection either, although his wife's motives are more questionable, and he does go to extraordinary lengths to protect her. But the debate is oddly almost completely inverted. He hasn't been seeking the office to protect himself. He's been seeking the office, to protect us.
Please tell those of us who don't know why Lieberman, a nationalist, is lost and should go back to Russia ? He certainly seems like the only one who will stand up to Israel's enemies at home and abroad.
