Back in 2001 I believe or 2002 in Lugano Switzerland the Sefriah filled with irreplaceable historical documents and books in German Italian and French were lost when the Sefriah attached to the Synagogue was set ablaze by a Swiss Bus driver. This was also considered not to be a 'hate crime' the arsonist was sent for psychiatric observation. I visited there a year later and the Sefriah was still in disrepair. I think Chabad now does some admirable work out of this Synagogue.
