To work out the plot. In common law a person is innocent until proven guilty. Why ask the PM to vacate his post on the basis of allegations?
Do they have the murder weapon, I mean to empty bottles of champagne and cigar butts?

Okay, so, I cannot stand Netanyahu and I voted for B&W but your claim that Rivlin must somehow take a moral stand in the name of "democracy" is off-base. Netanyahu's votes DID come from people who knew he was under indictment. So THAT is democracy. Sure, I think it's ridiculous, I think Bibi is selling this country up the river for his own political gain, but half the country disagrees with me. I think that Likud should be the ones to force him into a rotation with Gantz, sans the hareidi/rightest kitzonim bloc, and Gantz goes first. If Bibi is absolved, he'll take his rotation. If not, he'll take the well worn PM-to-jail pipeline

7. Translation: The Left thought Rivlin was in their pocket
Jake   (09.30.19)
But turn their fury against him when he tries to act as an honest broker between the Right wing bloc and the (smaller) center-Left bloc, refusing to be partial to the Leftists' agenda.
8. The majority of Israelis have decided he’s neither he’s bad

10. Democracy required Due Process
IsaacStorm   (09.30.19)
If the writer is for Democracy, then he should be for due process - but he hasn't demonstrated that.
Netanyahu hasn't been indicted, even if he were and was convicted, under the law he wouldn't have to be removed until the entire appeal process was completed.
Likud hasn't wanted to out Netanyahu - that is their choice as in a democracy & they won a third of the seats just like the Blue and White.
Rivlin made concrete proposals to get beyond the stalemate - like creating the post of deputy prime minister, extending the time a prime minister can take off and including an indictment in the rationale for taking a leave of absence. Also, he proposed a "parity" government in which both B&W and Likud would each have equal portfolios - this would get beyond Likud's insistence on block of Likud, right and religious parties.
Finally, the writer viewpoint to oust Netanyahu doesn't seem based on the election outcome, but because he feels the B & W will concede to the writer's viewpoint concerning the Arab Palestinian - Israeli conflict (just withdrawal and let chaos reign.) So, the writer's real concern isn't "democracy", but a political outcome to his choosing. Moreover, if the B & W were to be so irresponsible, in my view, that is even more of a reason not to have Netanyahu leave.
Didn't the withdrawal from Gaza, the intifadah's that killed over 1,000's of Israelis, the rocket attacks, the terror tunnels, the rise of the ISIS in the middle east, the unfettered growing of Iran and its proxies, etc... teach this writer anything?
11. Rivlin is he a nice guy or not
lal ram ,   Wolverhampton, UK   (09.30.19)
Rivlin is a man of great stature, and integrity, he cannot afford to throw Israel safety to the the wolves like Gantz and Lieberman. Irrespective of the looming alleged corruption charges against Bibi. Whatever the rights and wrongs are, Bibi is still by far choice of leading Israel's next government. The cry wolf media and other political opposition cannot be allowed to hijack Israel's elections.
