1. A very expensive technology using lots of land
Al   (10.19.19)
Generating very little electricity.

Israel has lots of gas.

Instead if selling it to our enemies, it ought to be used.

Dumb is as dumb can be. Solar is sexy it's not economical or efficient.

Adding those roof top water heaters as part of the total solar power generation is ridiculous

Solar power is political theater. It has very little to do with electric power generation.
2. Sounds nice but
Rich ,   Toronto   (10.19.19)
if Israelis continue to burn ever increasing fossil fuels into atmosphere, particulate matter will accumulate on the solar panels and they will absorb less and less sunlight over time. In order for solar panels to work efficiently, you will have to stop the capitalist system that is destroying our world.
3. I wouldn't believe a word from Steinitz's lips
pgr   (10.19.19)
In 2012 he declared the economy in excellent shape. There was a 60 billion deficit discovered not long after.

He was one of the liars who declared that the gas discovery would save the public vast amounts of money. The public soon found out what a lie that was. The profits would go to the shareholders and the price of power would continue to rise for the general public.

Now he wants us to believe that WE'LL save money from bird-killing solar panels (not a lot of people know that it isn't just wind turbines doing this)? Ten to one that the management and shareholders of this project will be getting all the benefit. We, the public, will continue to be fleeced for our electricity. As for the "green revolution", every other country in the world that has forsaken fossil fuel for so-called "renewals" has seen their electric costs go up three to fourfold - and that's apart from the blight on their landscapes.

From Steinitz, the only thing that happens when his lips move is that the hot air gets a lot hotter from all the lies.
4. Ph.D.
Avraham Neiburger   (10.19.19)
What is the steam pressure? Turbine? Condensed? Thermal efficiency?
5. Captain
JIMMY ,   brooklyn   (10.20.19)
So HOW MUCH POLLUTION was generated to CREATE all these photovoltaic panels?? And how much pollution will be created to junk them in 30 years when they no longer generate proper output??
6. Destruction of NATURE and Holocaust for BIRDS...
TheWall   (10.20.19)
Israel contributes to the biggest crime it ever committed - destroying the Negev, and killing thousands of migrating birds.
I'm sure the Mother Nature has the revenge for that already prepared.
It can be in different forms, most likely a nice earthquake to flatten this garbage.
It can be a small meteorite that will burn the whole thing to ashes.
Hopefully it comes soon.
7. Whatever it does(or not) this plant looks magnificent !
(10.20.19)
8. Very, very impressive in "real life"!!!!!!!!!!
(10.20.19)
9. New Negev solar panels.
Judith Natt ,   Raanana   (10.20.19)
This part of the Negev is not fit for human habitation. This is why Ashal8why the panels were placed there. The Israelis know a thing or two about technology. Stupid remarks would not not help. Birds do not fly over this territory.
10. Stupid remark.
Judith Natt   (10.20.19)
First learn about the geography of Israel and the make these very stupid remarks. What nature are you talking about in a desert land
11. Mr
Richard Kronenberg ,   Wisconsin rapids   (10.21.19)
360 panels? You've got be kidding.
12. The photo of Ashalim thermo is wrongly titled "photovoltaic"
Jack   (10.21.19)
That is the thermo-solar parabolic troughs of the Ashalim plant. The entire article confuses between the future Zeelim photovoltaic plant and the two existing Ashalim thermo-solar plants, one with a tower and the other with troughs. Fix the article.
13. Pipe dream.
Gavin Kadey ,   Netanya   (10.23.19)
At the moment, it is pollution free because the majority of our electricity is generated by other means.

However, it is (at the moment) impossible to store enough electricity to run a whole country - even a small one like Israel and storage becomes necessary when it isn't sunny.

On the issue of storage, the construction of storage batteries demands the mining of rare metals which are extremely damaging to the ecology of the planet.

100% reliance on emission and pollution free energy is a wonderful goal - but for now, and the next few decades it is, and will remain, a pipe dream.
