Following is a list of current numbers of US Troops in the Middle East Bahrain: 7.000 Iraq: 5,200 Jordan: 2,800 Kuwait: 13,000 Oman: 300 Saudi Arabia: 500 (with another 500 on the way) Syria: 1,900 (originally 2000 but Trump removed troops from Northern Syria) United Arab Emirates: 5,000 Turkey: actual number of US troops not available but given that Turkey and USA are both NATO members there are US bases in Turkey.
Total number of known US Troops in the Middle East, excluding Turkey, currently stands at 48,000 once additional US Troops land in Saudi Arabia that number increases to 48,000
Additionally there are currently 14,000 troops in Afghanistan. Bringing the entire regional total to 62,000 troops in the region. This figure excludes US presence in Turkey and excludes US undercover and US Special Ops troop figures.
Nonetheless no name at #2...I will answer your question. It sure does seem that the fool in this story is the 45th President of the United States!
