I hope that Mr. Perg brings up the insight that Maimonides had that could apply in such a case. It is consistent with his conversion to Judaism to live as a Jew, rather than die as a Jew. If recanting the conversion frees him, he must do so, rather than risk his life and those of his fellow Jews.
