1. Iran told him what to do
Jake ,   Dallas   (10.29.19)
Lebanon is not an independent country, it is a province of Iran. Iran openly brags about this. Maybe Trump’s sanctions are having an effect and Iran wants to collect some taxes. Or Iran can no longer afford to stuff pockets with cash. I presume that is all that this is really about
2. Way forward out if Lebanons impasse
Sammy ,   Newcastle   (10.29.19)
Create a nationwide 'manifesto' of basic requirements and create a new political party ONE NATION DEMOCRATIC LEBANON ONDL that represents all Lebanese and see who emerges with the leadership qualities and credibility to drive the changes forward

We want to fight corruption, kick backs, money laundering, tax avoidance. tax evasion and create an equitable and just tax system that addresses the huge gulf between the very rich and the rest

We want to kick start a nationwide infrastructure rebuilding program that can boost the economy and create much needed jobs and claw back the vast tourism potential lost over the last two decades

We want ONE state military answerable to parliament and no militias or Hezbollah controlled no go zones such as in South Lebanon North Lebanon and the Bekaa that could be used at any time of Irans choosing to wage Irans wars against Israel - that frighten off tourists and investors in their droves

And thats for starters

3. Wait for khomeinists to
Avi L.   (10.29.19)
Wait for khomeinists to make victims among the demonstartors showing they are against the people and then strike hezballah to the point where the oppressed will rise and take revenge of years of shia arrogance, of the killing of Hariri senior, of the 2008 coup when iran's minions took over the country, of their footbal team loosing a match. Let them vent their angers, frustration, rage

It will neutralize the hundreds of thousands of missiles and rocket pointed to Israel

All khomeinists regimes and affiliated like Hamas have the people against them after years of repression, poverty, violence

This is their single point of failure, the thread that if pulled will unravel all their regimes

Contrary to some security advisors "strategy" it is not by flattening Lebanon that hezballah will be neutralized, but by hitting it and letting the lebanese people decide ... to do a "Hama" on them
