The Health Ministry on Thursday evening reported that 10,997 new coronavirus cases had been diagnosed over Yom Kippur.
After more than 156,000 tests were conducted, the contagion rate now stands at 6%.
The nation's R number - which indicates how many people on average a single COVID patients infects - has also increased and now stands at 1.14.
Out of the 1,048 COVID patients hospitalized around the country, 654 are in serious condition, with 186 connected to ventilators. The death toll since the start of the pandemic rose to 7,456.
