Zimro Yaakobov, whose brother Yaakov was recently killed in a Qassam rocket attack on the Of Kor factory in Sderot, said Monday, “I have no doubt in my mind that the rockets will return; it will take a few days or weeks, but in the meantime the Palestinians will gather more weapons and missiles, and the attacks will be even more severe.”
“We feel that the Palestinians are fooling us once again,” he said. “There were three or four ceasefires in the past that had no results; they are simply toying with us, and as soon as the IDF attacks them they give up and declare a ceasefire.”
Yaakobov added: “I really don’t understand why the IDF agrees to these ceasefires; they give us nothing; I feel that my brother died for nothing.”
“The defense minister (Amir Peretz) visited our home, but he had no answers for me. Unfortunately, there will be more deaths from these rockets if the government continues to operate in this manner; it should instead rise up and fight them instead of agreeing to a truce.”
After the Shiv'ah (seven days of mourning after the death of a family member) Yaakobov plans to launch a campaign in protest of the government’s conduct.
“People will not wake up unless we begin to demonstrate all over the country, not only in Sderot,” he said. “We must make people realize that people are dying here and the politicians are doing nothing – only looking after their posts. Our blood is not cheap.”
