Man killed during post office robbery in Safed

Masked gunmen shoot 50-year-old postal worker to death, flee scene. ‘Everyone is in shock,’ fellow post office employee says

Forty-seven-year-old Shimon Farjun was shot to death Tuesday night by masked gunmen who robbed a post office in the northern city of Safed.
Farjun, who was the post office's deputy director, was married with two children.
Police forces arrived at the scene, and roadblocks were set up as part of the search for the suspects, who fled the scene shortly after the robbery, apparently by car.
“At around 6:30 p.m. the Magen David Adom (MDA) hotline received word that a man that was shot in the head at the city’s postal office,” MDA official Shimon Abitbul told Ynet.
“Paramedics who arrived at the scene worked diligently to save the man’s life, but he was pronounced dead a short while later,” he said.
Post office employee Eliran Saban told Ynet, “Everyone is in shock. How can someone commit such an act without taking into consideration that the man has a wife and children?”
Safed Mayor Yishai Maimon said after arriving at the scene of the murder that he did not believe such crimes could occur in the city, adding that he had instructed the municipality’s psychology and welfare services to help the victim’s family.
