The IDF will be conducting an official investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death ofa Reuters photographer in Gaza last Wednesday, the IDF Spokesperson's Unit announced Sunday.
The New York-based group Human Rights Watch says its investigation suggests soldiers fired either recklessly or targeted Shana.
The IDF rejected all claims of intentional fire at the cameraman: "Unlike terrorist organizations, the IDF does not intentionally attack civilians, and takes various precautionary measures to avoid and prevent such incidents from occurring," said the military in a statement.
"Any claim to the contrary in both misleading and mendacious."
The IDF further stated that an inquiry is held after any incident involving Palestinian civilians' casualties, adding that The inquiry's findings will be submitted to the Military Advocate General for further evaluation.
