Mike Herzog and Attorney Yitzhak Molcho, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's emissarieson the Israeli-Palestinian peace talks, will leave for Washington Tuesday, to meet with the US' special envoy to the Middle East, George Mitchell.
The three are expected to discuss ways to reignite the stalled peace process .
The meeting follows Netanyahu's meeting withUS President Barack Obama and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas during the UN General Assembly in New York last week.
With the major hurdle of the US' demand to halt all settlement expansion out of the way, Israel and the US are expected to discuss the terms needed to resume talks.
Netanyahu said he was willing to negotiate sans preconditions, but qualified the statement by saying steps the likes of the PA recognizing Israel and the Jewish homeland, as well as normalization gestures by other Arab nations were a must.
The Palestinian Authority is expected to send emissaries of its own to Washington, to meet with Mitchell on the same issue.
Jerusalem sources said meeting Obama's deadline was possible – if the PA and the Arab world would be willing to take confidence-building measures.
